Gay and Lesbian Historic Trolley Tour

SATURDAYS AT 10:50 AM
Join the Key West Business Guild on the only gay and
lesbian trolley tour in the United States!
For decades, visiting Key West has been almost a “rite of passage” for
gays and lesbians coming out. Now, we’ve developed a tour to offer new
insight into our haven in paradise.
Hop on our rainbow-decorated trolley any Saturday at 10:50 a.m. to catch the
best of Key West in this 70-minute tour that highlights our rich gay and lesbian
history. You’ll get the “lay of the land,” find all the official
(and un-official) hot spots, and hear about the local and visiting characters
that make Key West so colorful. You’ll see where literary greats like
Tennessee Williams and Elizabeth Bishop lived; locate the original site of
the great gay club, the Monster; and learn about the impact gays and lesbians
have had on the culture, politics and economy of the Keys.
This is a full-featured tour. From our unique blend of architecture to our
tropical environment and familiar figures like Ernest Hemingway, this tour
covers it all. Key West is unusual today because of the ship-wreckers, cigar-makers
and free-thinkers of our past, and the Gay and Lesbian Trolley Tour tells all
about it . . . and tells it in the fun and fabulous way that only a gay tour
can!
So take a tour that’s anything but ordinary. Even if you’ve been
here before, we promise you’ll learn something new – and have a
few laughs while you do it!
Tickets available at the Key West Business Guild, 513 Truman Avenue, by phone
at 294-4603, or at the Trolley Saturday morning before the tour.
